Who Are Woodvale? – A Charity-Run Community Centre

Who We Are

Woodvale is a charity-run community centre created to provide a safe, friendly, and welcoming place for everyone in our community.

We especially support people who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, loneliness, isolation, or simply finding life difficult at times. There is no judgement here. Everyone is welcome to come in for a cup of tea, a chat, and a friendly face.

Our community centre is a place where people can meet others, learn new skills, build confidence, and feel that they belong.

What We Do to Help

English and Computer Classes

Our English and computer classes help people learn at their own pace in a relaxed and supportive environment. Whether you are improving your English or becoming more confident with computers, our friendly classes are designed to help you develop useful skills.

Crochet and Cooking Classes

Our crochet and cooking classes give people the opportunity to learn new skills while spending time with others.

These relaxed group activities are about more than learning. They are also a chance to make friends, enjoy conversation, and be part of a welcoming community.

Walking Groups and Leisure Centre Activities

We organise gentle walking groups and encourage people to enjoy fresh air and stay active together.

Being active can be good for both the mind and body, and our walking groups provide a friendly way to get out, meet people, and enjoy some time together.

Support for Anyone Experiencing Loneliness

If you feel lonely, isolated, or simply need someone to talk to, we are here for you.

You do not have to go through difficult times alone. Our community centre is open throughout the year, offering friendship, conversation, and a welcoming place where you can feel comfortable.

Christmas Dinner

Every Christmas, we provide a free Christmas dinner for anyone who may be lonely or in need of some extra support.

Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for people who are alone, and we believe that no one should have to spend Christmas alone.

Our Aim

Building a Stronger and More Connected Community

Our aim is simple: to help people feel less lonely, more confident, and connected to their community.

Through friendship, activities, learning opportunities, and kindness, we want to support people’s mental wellbeing and create a place where everyone feels welcome.

How Our Shop Helps

Supporting Woodvale Through Coffee Purchases

Our little online shop, woodvalecoffee.shop, helps support the work we do in the community.

Our volunteers find and recommend good coffee machines available through Amazon UK. When you purchase a product through one of our affiliate links, we may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you.

Every commission helps us continue providing valuable community activities and support.

Where the Money Goes

The money generated through our shop goes back into supporting our community work, including:

  • English and computer classes
  • Crochet and cooking classes
  • Walking groups and leisure activities
  • Support for people experiencing loneliness
  • Our free Christmas dinners

By supporting our shop, you are helping us continue to provide a friendly place where people can meet, learn, make friends, and feel less alone.

Everyone Is Welcome

Whether you are looking for a friendly chat, want to learn something new, would like to meet other people, or simply need somewhere welcoming to spend some time, Woodvale is here for you.

We believe that a small act of kindness, a friendly conversation, or a shared cup of tea can make a real difference.

You are welcome at Woodvale.
